To predict environmental noise impacts from the plants and take proper noise control in design phase, or to solve the noise issues of neighboring community during plant operation, noise modeling with accuracy is very important. Energy based methods such as ISO9613-2 are often used as an engineering approach for far field sound propagation from complicated industrial plants. However, accuracy of the energy based methods is depending on boundary conditions such as ground surface, structures, equipment, buildings and meteorological condition. Based on our accumulated data of comparisons between noise modeling and noise measurement on the actual plants, we are improving our noise modeling method. This paper will present the engineering way to improve the accuracy of the energy based method for sound propagation prediction of industrial plants.", }
